Expert Cardiologist
Dr Chua graduated from St Mary’s Hospital Medical School, Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine London in 1987. He was awarded a First Class Honours in the Intercalated BSc and MB, BS degree. He took up cardiology specialty training in various London teaching hospitals including St Bartholomew’s Hospital, Royal Free Hospital, Royal Brompton Hospital and Hammersmith Hospital. He was a British Heart Foundation Junior Research Fellow, researching into heart failure pathophysiology and obtaining an MD degree (University of London).
Accredited as a specialist in the United Kingdom both in general medicine and cardiology, his specialist interests include coronary artery disease, interventional cardiology (coronary artery angioplasty and stenting), heart failure, valvular heart disease, hypertension, atrial fibrillation and bradycardia pacing. He is an NHS consultant at the Royal Surrey Foundation Trust, Frimley Park Hospital and St George’s Hospital, London. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP), London, Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology (FESC) and Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC).
Dr Chua is a dedicated interventional cardiologist with many years of experience and also diverse interests in general cardiology. He has helped many patients with heart conditions. He performs life-saving procedures such as percutaneous coronary intervention (coronary balloon angioplasty and stents) in patients with acute heart attacks and pacemakers for patients in severe heart block. He has treated many patients with coronary artery disease, heart valve disease, infective endocarditis, resistant hypertension, atrial fibrillation, cardiomyopathies, decompensated heart failure and pericardial disease. He uses various diagnostic tests including echocardiography (transthoracic and transoesophageal), nuclear perfusion imaging, coronary CT angiogram, cardiac MRI and invasive coronary angiography.

He has conducted research in coronary artery disease, high cholesterol in heart attack patients, heart failure and ultrafiltration in heart failure. He has more than 50 publications in peer-reviewed journals. He has also published numerous clinical case reports to disseminate clinical experience and to improve practice.
